Deadbolt locks are simple but efficient lock systems for the modern family. They are easy to install and surprisingly useful just by themselves. The features of a deadbolt lock makes it appealing to use because it provides additional protection that is beneficial regardless of the type of door you use. You can almost never go wrong with a deadbolt lock if you use it properly. It might even be safe to say that it would be the last type of lock system you would ever need.
How does a deadbolt locking system work?
How does it work, you ask? A deadbolt lock is basically a mechanism accessible from both sides of a door but only by a key. This means that its latch assembly does not easily retract just as in a door knob when the handle is being turned. A deadbolt’s latch only moves by the turn of a key. As such, when a door that its locking system installed is a deadbolt and the same is unsecured. The door can easily be accessed. On the other hand, a locked deadbolt door cannot be accessed except through a key. You can try pushing against the door all you want but it won’t budge without that key. We see this all the time in laundry supply closets or storage rooms that only require locking. Deadbolt locks are perfect for situations such as these.
Deadbolt locks are ‘knob-less’ systems that are simple yet effective
The simplicity of the deadbolt lock makes is so appealing to most people since there is nothing more to it but to lock and unlock with the key. Everything else is just a matter of going through that secured or unsecured door. This is also the reason why deadbolt locks are often used in tandem with other door knobs or locking systems such as passage locksets that compensate for the lack of a knob, or the entry lock system for a working knob and more security. Without other systems that utilize knobs, a door with just a deadbolt may only be accessed by pushing or pulling if there is some sort of handle involved. Take a look at the fire exit in your malls or libraries; handles are usually attached to the back of the door, but only a deadbolt will greet you after going in.
